ROSAMUND'S YELLOW SCARF

Rosamund Bernier is 90 years old. As a young woman she worked in Paris for Vogue Magazine, where she interviewed the leading lights of the art world; Picasso, Matisse, Braque, Miro, Rodin, et al. - you get the picture.
In this context it's important to know she was voted one of the best dressed women in the world in 1992. She is the stepmother of a dear friend of ours, and she visited our garden this summer. Over a glass of iced tea she recounted a story about an experience she had in Paris.
She said that she was wearing a black Balenciaga pants suite with a long bright orange open coat, when Matisse turned to her and said, "With that, you must wear a yellow scarf."
I had been looking for a name for my yellow flowered plant and, voila, there is was - brought to mind by a comment made to Rosamund Bernier by Henri Matisse, 60 or so years ago. Sacre bleu!
This 50" beauty is a stand out in the garden. The sturdy scapes present the flowers at the proper angle and its intense butter/lemon yellow blossoms are accented with a lime green heart and a gentle pie-crusting on the petal edge. Pollen fertile.
