Anybody who knows what I like in a daylily knows that it is form and color. ONLY IN AMERICA has both. Its clear, orange red figure dances distinctively on sturdy scapes and calls attention to itself from a distance.
ONLY IN AMERICA has a vibrant personality. It tells you what it is from far away. You don’t have to be close to it to see the tepal movement. It seems to spin and twist in a carefree manner, oblivious to all the problems of the world, moving to a lighthearted melody only it can hear.
If you do move in close, you will notice that the clean green throat turns to olive at it spreads out along the floral segments. The sepals twist and turn into fantastic arabesques while the petals pinch. But you don’t need a close up. ONLY IN AMERICA has garden presence. It last very well in the sun too.
A clump of it is dynamic. Plant it next to a good purple; a gold; draw up a chair; sip a glass of iced tea (not too sweet) and enjoy the dazzling combination of colors. You’ll be happy ‘till the sun goes down.
