I think that this flower bloomed the year after that famous wind blew through our area, and as soon as I saw this twisty curly pinched beauty I know what the name had to be…HURRICANE BOB! OK, there’s a little bit of ego here, but this twirly swirly baby really did remind me of a pinwheel blowing in a high wind. It is a very consistent variable crispate. That sounds like an oxymoron, but it isn’t. HURRICANE BOB has a different pose every time it blooms. Intriguing and surprising, often blooms with that little “pig tail” on the bottom sepal. Difficult pod parent, pollen fertile.
