Welcome to the website of Ken and Cindy Dye, hybridizers and garden judges of daylilies for more than 20 years. We have been blessed and thrilled to have won the REGION 15 JEFFCOAT HYBRIDIZER’S AWARD - Cindy in 2009 and Ken in 2010. We want to thank all the great daylily people who encourage us by buying our plants and with your words of kindness. We are a state inspected garden and are open to visitors in JUNE, by advance notice, as we do attend many National and Regional daylily conventions. We are zone 7 with 4 distinct seasons.

Spring Homeplace Gardens Releases
HOMEPLACE BONFIRE*
(C Dye) (LATINO HEAT X ORANGE CLOWN) X WHOODAH MAN)
I will admit to swiping some of Ken's pollen for this one but in my defense it was all in the noble pursuit of a gigantic orange. This one is not orange but it comes close with its reddish orange coloring and full figured 8 1/2" blooms. Each scape has a terminal Y and two laterals. If you are into hot colors HB is for you. I have set a few pods on it but our temps have been so high that in full sun pods of any kind have been scarce for the past few years. What really makes this one pop is that bright gold throat radiating out and down the midribs. Sunfastness is not perfect but it holds well most of the day. It is a dormant tet and supply is good here so we will be offering double fans. I love the genetics here and am expecting more good things from its pollen.

LOVE HURTS*
(K Dye) (SHARKY'S REVENGE X GRAMS DREAM)
Long before Adele came along with her raw gut wrenching emotional love hurts music, there was a Scottish band called Nazareth who laid all that hurt out there for the world 35 years ago. Love may hurt but this triangular formed apple red beauty will certainly help ease your pain. It is a 6 1/2 " flower on a 38" scape sporting 4 way branching and 18 buds. The red and white teeth were expected from this cross but its evergreen plant habit was not. With a genetically dormant background going way back to Brother Reckamp, we are still scratching our heads in wonder. But that is the fun of breeding daylilies. If you want to hear God laugh - tell him YOUR plans...

SCREAM DREAMS
(K Dye).... (WOODLAND DREAMS X SMOKE SCREAM)
These diploid genetics had no choice but to produce something special. With a smoky lavender 7" bloom on a budbuilding 38" scape SD made its parents proud. A dormant reblooming budbuilder is becoming the norm here and we like it that way. With 3 branches and 16 buds, SCREAM DREAMS has a large starburst green throat that is easily passed on to its kids. Like its parents, it is a good grower here in NC and we are pleased to offer double fans.

SIMPLE SALMON SAYS
(C Dye) .... RUTH HOLBROOK X HOW BEAUTIFUL HEAVEN MUST BE
Color and performance made this elegant cultivar stand out and demand a name. The form is ruffled and consistently tailored with a superb plant habit. SSS is a 5" flower on a 40" scape with 4 way branching, multiple rebloom, and a most unique shade of salmon peach coloring. It is behaving as an evergreen to semi-evergreen and registered as such. Most of it has been pre-sold but I will have a few double fans to sell.
