Welcome to my new website!
Prairie Lace Gardens is a backyard operation located on the prairie of southwestern Oklahoma, where the hot, dry wind comes sweeping down the plains. This garden features the hybridizing efforts of Clint Barnes, and also contains the work of breeders from across the country. I currently grow close to 2000 different cultivars of all shapes, sizes and colors. I like everything! I guess that is why I have so many! I have been an AHS member for over 20 years and am a garden judge. I hybridize diploids and tetraploids, both large and small. I still have a fondness for the diploids and am proud to release three new ones this fall for your consideration, as well as one new tetraploid.
You will also find my currentl price list that is valid through August, 2010, when I have the new listing available. Everything is quite limited, and in most cases, I only have a couple of plants available. So, if you see something that you’re interested in, let me know as soon as possible. Spring 2010 shipping will be from April 15th until June 1st. Please specify a preferred shipping date. I prefer to ship Priority Mail--please include $7.00 for one plant, and $1.00 each for any additional plants. OK residents please add 5% for state and county sales taxes. Please make checks payable to Clint Barnes.
Plants will be double fans or better, except for those which are listed as Single Fans. Plants are guaranteed to be healthy and true to name. If you are not happy with your plants when you receive them, send them back immediately for a full refund. No substitutions will be made unless designated on your order. If substitutions are allowed, please provide a list of possible substitutes. Bonus plants (approximately 20%) will be given with every order, and a long list of suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you for looking, and I hope to hear from you soon!

2009 Introductions

AUNT VEE
(Barnes, Cl. 2009)
#B06-LBBEG-1 (Lavender Blue Baby X Evelyn Gates) 21” scapes, Early Midseason, Dormant, Diploid. 4 ¾” flowers of a dark rosy lavender with a chalky lavender watermark and lighter midribs above a yellow-green throat. Very round and ruffled with good substance. This is the first introduction of several from this very productive cross. Very beautiful! 2-way branching with 14 buds. A good grower and increaser, but only makes medium-sized fans. Named for a very special lady, my Great-Aunt Vee, who will celebrate her 99th birthday in December. Pod fertile, but not easy. Registration has been submitted, and name is pending approval from the AHS.

LITTLE MISS CHARLA
(Barnes, Cl. 2009)
#B06-SEJCBP-1 (Siloam Elfin Jewel X Crystal Blue Persuasion) 16” scapes, Early, Dormant, Diploid. Tiny 2 ¾” blooms are an almond blend with an enormous eyezone of bright violet blue outlined in magenta with a green throat. The flower recurves and the eye is so large that oftentimes the base color is hardly noticeable. 2 to 3 way branching with 10 to 12 buds. I wish the budcount were higher, but in every year that it has been grown, it immediately sends up rebloom scapes. Therefore its bloom season is still quite adequate. A cute, jewel of a flower named for my niece, who is certainly a jewel herself! Pod fertile. Registration has been submitted, and name is pending approval from the AHS.

Consistent, round, cookie cutter form. There is a fine gold edging in the petals and a faint rose halo can be present in cooler weather. Three-way branching with 16 buds. A good grower and a very nice flower. Fertile both ways.
