SMITHEREENS $15 df
Lovett, D. 2003. 26” Dor M Dip 7.5” Re Deep wine w/ large yelloe-green
throat that extends onto petals as mid-rib.
(Red Ribbons x Wildest Dreams)
When this first bloomed I commented that it looked like an explosion occurred
and the flower had been, "blown to smithereens". "Smithereens" stuck as it’s
name and it describes it pretty well! This is one of those spiders whose
appearence on some days is wild, with petals and sepals sticking out asunder in
crazy orientation, like an explosion, and other days they twist and curl and drape
down with a more conventional spider appearance.
It has deep wine petals and a big yellow throat that extends far out onto the petals
as a narrow midrib. Scape height is 26"with up to 20 buds. Ratio is 5.9:1, petal
length is 6.625" and bloom diameter is 7.5". Difficult pod parent; pollen is good.
