Dan & Jackie Lovett's Daylily Garden

NED’S CHOICE                $35sf

Lovett, D                      2007

42”  Dip M Ev 8”       LOCH NESS MONSTER  x  BITE THE BULLET

In 2003, the late Ned Roberts, who hybridized SKINWALKER and many other wonderful spiders, visited my garden and this flower was blooming in my seedling bed for the first time. As we walked the garden, he spotted it from far off and went right by several of my best seedlings without even turning his head. “Who is this? Why haven’t you flagged it?” It was clearly his favorite, and certainly one of mine, too. Ned was very supportive of my hybridizing efforts and freely gave me help and advice, so it is with pleasure that I recognize my friend with this introduction.

This is one of my favorite flowers that I have introduced. A very pale yellow, on occasion it is near-white. The form is very wispy and open. I would call it contemporary  classic. The pollen parent is my very first introduction, BITE THE BULLET. NED’S CHOICE is tall, about 42, with 8” flowers on strong, well- branched scapes. Pollen is very fertile and it is giving me some good kids.
