Lovett's Daylily Seedlings

D05 [(Unknown x God’s Handiwork) x All American Windmill] x Chesapeake Crab Legs
Oh WOW! I love this color…..very unusual. I would call it brilliant orange with a pinkish overlay. This seedling is a big bold flower that really draws your eye. The petals show some inclination to twisting and ruffling. It is 40” tall with 7 ½” blooms on 3 branches and 17 buds.
I became interested in spidery daylilies in exotic shades of orange after seeing some of the fantastic newer orange daylilies in the Large Flower classification. These hybridizers have done marvelous things with oranges and they are simply gorgeous. Orange is no longer the color of the “ditchbank daylily”.
The pod parent above is a really complex cross. The (Unk x God’s Handiwork) is a large flower, i.e., not narrow, but is a very attractive orange color, which is the reason I used it. Both ALL AMERICAN WINDMILL and CHESAPEAKE CRAB LEGS are oranges, in addition to being narrower outstanding daylilies. |
