Welcome to Timbercreek Garden, an AHS National
Display Garden, the garden of Don Lovell, Marshalltown, Iowa. Timbercreek
is a small one man garden that has evolved from a hobby into hopefully a
business adventure.
The focus of this garden is on hardy northern
daylilies that survive the zone 4 enviroment without a lot of pampering.
All the plants shown here represent just that.

MABEL WINEGAR
Lovell '04 TET Dor. 26" 6" bloom 20 bud count 4 way
branching fast increaser, fertile both ways, nice foliage. This plant sends up a
second set of scapes while in the middle of blooming the first set. For the last
three seasons on the mature clump it has sent up yet another scape that bloomed
until frost. Three sets of scapes in Zone 4.
Single Fan $100

PEPPERMINT ICE
Lovell '04 Dip Hardy Sem Ev 22" 5" bloom 2 way branching 15
buds fertile both ways, very fast increaser, good foliage. This is a mutation
in nature, creating a flower with stripes in the bloom. It really is a
hybridizers plant as it has several flaws as you can tell from the bud count and
branching. I have several F2 kids that are correcting this problem. Very unusual.
Double Fan $50

After ten years of
hybridizing there have been a several lines of daylilies that are unique.
This would be one of the goals from my program, to make available
something that no one else is offering. All these plants have been grown
outside.
The collection has grown from a few hundred to multiple
thousands, now mostly seedlings, selected plants, future introductions and
introductions from Timbercreek. There has never been
rust here and there has been no spraying for it. I hope you enjoy the
first batch of pictures and if there are any questions please feel free to
call or email. Due to the fact that it is zone 4, the
propagation is very slow, thus most are very limited.

TIMBERCREEK ACE
Lovell '04 Dip Dor 26" 5.5 bloom 4 to 5 way branching 20+
bud count good increaser, nice foliage fertile booth ways. This flower opens
as close to black as I have seen. It has a very velvety texture and is sun
fast. It reblooms in zone 4 and is proving to be a very good parent. Double fan $75

from the garden, making it very hard to pass up. This plant prolifes on just
about every scape. Nice foliage. Double fan $50
