PAT WESSLING
PAT WESSLING (FREQUENT COMMENT X TET SILOAM RALPH HENRY) Tetraploid, 26”, EM, 5.5”, 3 Br., 17-19 buds, Semievergreen. Another wonderful example of the power of converted diploids to
produce smashing progeny. PAT WESSLING is a lovely creamy
near-white blossom with a soft pink caste and a celery green throat.
predominant, however, is the deeper pink coloration that outlines the petals.
The effect of the deeper color on the petal edges seems to enhance the
curvature and provides a shading effect on the blossom. PAT WESSLING
is a robust daylily with many buds on a stout scape, and is a rapid increaser
here in Florida. Lovely, deep green foliage completes the picture. Fertile both
ways, she sets fat seed pods .Many of her seedlings will bloom this season,
and I anticipate some lovely keepers. I have used PAT WESSLING primarily
in an “edge-no-eye” program, with other tet conversions. I have intentionally
waited an extra year to introduce this plant, so I would have the maximum
amount of blooms to work with. Subsequently, I have ample stock.
