PACIFIC PEARL [(WEDNESDAYS CHILD X Tet RUFFLED MASTERPIECE) X (J.T. DAVIS)] Tetraploid, 25”, EM, 4.75”, 3Br., 21 Buds, Semievergreen Very bright symmetrical blossoms are heavily ruffled and rimmed in gold on this introduction. Extra heavy substance is inherent in this daylily. Blooms are a rich polychrome yellow with prominent pink suffusions. Endowed with superior plant habits PACIFIC PEARL stands up to all weather conditions, and still looks great in the waning twilight. All those tight ruffles comes from the Tet Ruffled Masterpiece genes in its background. This one is a valuable breeder, passing along not only substance, but great ruffling. The color is rich and intense, pleasing even the most demanding hybridizer.
Fertile both ways, excellent dark green foliage and rapid increase are all here in PACIFIC PEARL. A guest plant sent to New England for trials displayed much more pink in the bloom color. ( A pleasant surprise! ) I suspect that cold will deepen the color.
