LINDA CHAFFEE {( ADMIRALS BRAID X TET SILOAM RALPH HENRY ) X LAVENDER HEARTTHROB) Tetraploid, 28” 5.25”, E, 3 Br., 20 Buds Semievergreen This color in daylilies is perhaps my favorite color. I seem to be producing
a great many pale lilac blue faces in the garden. LINDA CHAFFEE is one of
the best yet in this range, and one of which I am most proud. The color is a soft
lilac blue, as though the color has been airbrushed over a pure white background.
On cool cloudy days, that “blue” color is even more noticeable. Now, add a crispy
white ruffling around the edge and add a pale green throat That’s it!
LINDA CHAFFEE puts on quite a show here. Nice dark green foliage, strong,
stout scapes, and lots of blooms evenly spaced out without crowding. I loaded
this one up with pollen from Bluegrass Music this past season, and I eagerly look
forward to those seedlings. If you have Tet Lavender Blue Baby, I urge you to get LINDA CHAFFEE and make some crosses. My instinct tells me you’ll strike
gold with seedlings from that cross. Named for very warm and wonderful family
friend who was so helpful during a time of great sadness.
