FAT ALBERTFAT ALBERT ( ADMIRAL’S BRAID X TET SILOAM RALPH HENRY) Tetraploid, 29”, ML, 5.5”, 3Br., 20 Buds, Semievergreen. From its initial bloom, I knew that this lovely daylily would someday become an introduction. The big ruffled bloom is a symmetrical vanilla colored polychrome with
hints of pink and pale yellow, and sports lovely golden ruffles around its edges. The
celery green throat enhances its overall effect. FAT ALBERT blooms in mid-season here in Florida, and it becomes difficult, if not impossible due to the heat, to set seed outside of a greenhouse environment. However, very early attempts just before sunrise, have yielded results in setting pods, and the pollen is very potent. I have made some considerable crosses with its pollen. We have several seedlings as keepers from using pollen from FAT ALBERT. It is a very dependable daylily, with great plant habits. I have held back introducing this one for the past year because it is the slowest growing of all the Tet Siloam Ralph kids. But, It is a knockout.! You will be proud to own this one. |
