CAROLINA TWILIGHT [(SEEDLING X LAVENDER STARBURST ) X LAVENDER ILLUSION)] Tetraploid, 27”, 5.5”, 3Br., 20Buds, Semievergreen A rich rosy lavender, with a subtle, graduated watermark describes
this delightful introduction. It has a glorious color, a color that defies
proper description. Strong scapes and many blooms only enhance its
overall attributes. Good healthy dark green foliage and rapid increase
just add more desirable qualities to CAROLINA TWILIGHT. The
color contrast is delicious, with a bright lettuce green throat perfectly
matching the color saturated petals. The blossoms also sport a deeper
lavender edge of ruffles, deeper than the base color. Petals are generally
a little paler than the petals, yet, it cannot be considered to be a bi-tone.
Visitors spent a lot of time photographing this one, and taking notes.
CAROLINA TWILIGHT is difficult to photograph,. That lavender
color is difficult, if not impossible, to capture, especially on film.
She is fertile both ways, and gave me many seed pods over the last
two years. We think that the delicious color sets this one apart from any
other in the garden. We hope you’ll like her as much as we do. |
