PENTHOUSE DOUBLE
1999
Introduction.
Hybridized by Bob Schwarz
38"
M 7" - ivory yellow - v.fr.- Double 95%; Double branched
with 20 buds. Diploid.
JUDY'S
PENTHOUSE DOUBLE is a tall spectacular soft yellow double that
is a real head turner. Everybody who comes into the garden
loves it, but because I want to create a reputation for Unusual
Forms, I was loath to introduce it. Judy Rocco, who is the "Judy"
in the name, loved the plant and every time she saw it she urged
me to "let it out". The garden name of this flower
was PENTHOUSE DOUBLE, because of it's height. When
Judy became ill, however, I decided to introduce the flower
and name it for her. The original garden name for JUDY'S
PENTHOUSE DOUBLE was DOUBLE BRIDAL BOUQUET because each blossom
looks like a small bouquet that a bride's maid might carry. The
blossom lasts a long time off the scape, and I wonder if anyone
will ever use it for that purpose.
