ONDINE
(ELIGANT FINALE
x LAVENDER LIGHT) 24 X 5 ½ Double branched, 20+ buds.
A hybridizer has
to start somewhere. He or she has to begin by using cultivars
from other hybridizers in order to start his or her own line.
ONDINE, along with its' sibling TUXEDO JUNCTION, were products
of some of my earliest crosses of cultivars from other hybridizers.
ONDINE times TUXEDO
JUNCTION produced FROZEN MARGARITA. That is, I think the cross
went that way. The tag read "[(ELFIN x LL) x (ELFIN x LL)]",
so your guess may be as good as mine.
ONDINE often shows
itself in a pinched or twisted form, but not consistently enough
for me to register it as a Ufo. Yet, it is the parent of Ufos.
Nevertheless, the
intense lavender color, lime green throat and contrasting dark
lavender eye make it unusual in another sense. The dark lavender
thread edge only adds to the qualities of this flower.
Garden visitors
stop and admire ONDINE. I do too.
Fertile both ways.
